Live Like You Were Dying
March 8+9, 2008
If you got word today that you had 30 days to live, how would that
change your life?
Life and Death Facts:
1) There is a 100% chance you will die.
Psalm 89:48 - No one can live forever; all will die. No one can escape the
power of the grave.
2) None of us is guaranteed a long life! James 4:13-15
3) None of us know our departure date!
Ecclesiastes 8:8a - None of us can hold back our spirit from departing.
None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death.
4) We live our best life when we live with the end in mind!
Psalm 39:4 - Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind
me that my days are numbered—how eeting my life is.
5) We don’t have to fear death if we know Christ and we have lived
our life well.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:10 - For we must all stand before Christ to be
judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we
have done in this earthly body.
We are saved by what we believed but we will be rewarded for
how we behaved.
Jesus was the master at living like He was dying! He knew His time
on earth was short and what His purpose was for being here.
He even told His disciples repeatedly about His imminent
suering and death. Matthew 16:21-23
Jesus Lived With Three Senses!
1) He lived with a sense of urgency!
John 9:4; John 4:34-38
Jesus seized every opportunity to do His Father’s will. He never
procrastinated but never was in a panic either. He lived poised to
fulll His life mission. So should we! Romans 13:12-14
We should wake up! We should shake o passivity and
procrastination! We should stop sinning immediately and seize
every day as a gift from God to use for loving others.
2) He lived with a sense of priority!
John 6:38 - For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who
sent Me, not to do my own will.
Luke 19:10 - "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which
was lost."
People were His top priority!
John 17:11 - Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this
world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name;
now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united
just as we are.
Those we love and our Father loves should be our top priority too!
John 15:12-13 - This is my commandment: Love each other in the same
way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for
one’s friends.
Living like we are dying is devoting ourselves to caring for them,
sharing with them, giving to them and spending time with them.
3) Jesus lived with a sense of eternity! John 14:1-3
Who do you desperately want to be with you in heaven? Have you
shared Christ with them?
What rewards do you want to receive in heaven for how you lived
on earth? Matthew 6:19-21
For 30 Days let’s all commit to “Live Like We Are Dying!”
1) Get right with God.
2) Get God’s Word into you.
3) Get right with others.
4) Get done what you know you should do.
5) Get into a Small Group.
Everyone wins when we live like we are dying!
