  • Series: Live Like You Were Dying

For 30 days we are living like we are dying! Why?
1. We live our best life when we realize each day of our life is
a gift to be used wisely.
Psalm 90:12 - Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may
grow in wisdom.
2. Jesus lived that way and we are to follow His example.
He lived with a sense of urgency
He lived with a sense of priority
He lived with a sense of eternity
Today we want to learn another key truth about living like we are
dying. What is that?
3. “Using our mouths as a fountain of blessing”
Proverbs 10:11 - The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.
Proverbs 18:21 - The tongue has the power of life and death, and those
who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 16:24-25 - Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and
healthy for the body.
All of us wrestle with what we say, how we say it, when we
say it and what we don’t say that we should say.
James 3:2 - For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble
in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.
James 3:7-11 - People can tame all kinds of animals and birds and
reptiles and sh, but no one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable
evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and
sometimes it breaks out into curses against those who have been made in
the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the
same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! Does a spring
of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water?
Jesus was a master at using His tongue as a fountain
of blessing.
John 13:1-5, John 13:13-17- And since I, Lord and Teacher, have washed
your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an
example to follow. Do as I have done to you.

Jesus modeled how to speak lovingly when you are leaving! He held
nothing back that was helpful to prepare His disciples for what was to
come. So did Paul. He imitated Christ and wrote letters from prison
that were fountains of blessing like the letter to the believers at
Philippi.
Speaking Sweetly:
1. Appreciation, Armation and Aection
Philippians 1:3-8 - Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my
God....God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender
compassion of Christ Jesus.
2. Encouragement and Exhortation
Philippians 2:12-15, Proverbs 12:25 - Worry weighs a person down; an
encouraging word cheers a person up.
Hebrews 3:13 - You must encourage each other every day, as long as it is
called “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened
against God.
3. Assurance and Warning
Philippians 4:4-7 - Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it
again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.
Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead,
pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he
has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more
wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard
your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:2-3
4. Guidance and Instruction
Philippians 4:8-9 - And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one
more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and
honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and
admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me
and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.
We live like we are dying when we daily use our lips to love people the
way Jesus did. We leave nothing unsaid that needs to be said and use
our mouths as a fountain of blessing.
Proverbs 10:11 – The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of Life
